Peak Performance Coaching: Discover the Two Things That Will Drive Your Success

What Is A Life Coach?

There are many aspects of life coaching. Peak performance coaching is but one aspect. This can be found only at the intersection of natural ability and core values. Ability without passion is a job. Passion without challenge is an unfulfilled dream. When ability and values collide there is a natural vitality and satisfaction that occurs.

We all strive to perform at a high level in our careers, hobbies, families and all of our relationships. This is not your potential. There is a way to perform at an even higher level. Two things are required: one, to know who you really are and two, to define what you really want. Your identity and mission is the key to unlocking your greatest level of peak performance.

Sadly, many will battle to the very end of life without much success. Some will give up and settle for a mediocre life. After all, if we lower our expectations isn’t life more bearable? Others will reach for the brass ring and catch it. Is it a question of luck? Is our destiny predetermined? Do we have any control over our success? Carl Jung said,

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate”

Therefore, peak performance demands an answer if you want to live a full and fruitful life! But, the clarity you need is found only when you know yourself better than anyone or anything in your life. Allow me to illustrate.

Several years ago I raised a bird hunting dogs; German Short Haired Pointers to be precise. These dogs are bred to hunt! My first dog’s name was Ricki. She had one passion. Hunting and pointing game birds.! Now Ricki had an advantage that humans do not. She only thought about one thing. She was more focused than any person I have ever met in my life. But focus is only part of the answer.

Ricki knew who she was. A hunting dog – no question! She knew exactly who she was and what she wanted to do. Do you know who you are? We’re used to answering the question, “What do you do?” And most of the time the answer has more to do with our job than any other aspect of life. Is your identity clear? Do you know why you were made? In summary, clarity on these questions will lead you to peak performance! For more on what is coaching?

What On Earth Am I Here For?

Dave Rhodes says, “If you don’t know who you are created to be, you will become who you are paid to be.” I can’t stress the importance of identity enough. Who are you really? Who were you designed to be? Your true self is dying to emerge. Everything else is simply invented in your mind. They are not you! Your true identity longs to see the world as beautiful and be content in all circumstances. This is the essence of Peak Performance Coaching. Deming said,

“If you don’t know how to ask the right question, you discover nothing.”

A wondrous world awaits those who can break the chains of unrealistic assumptions and negativity in daily life. Any organization that wants to realize a better future looks to the past to understand their current success. They know, “what got them here won’t get them there.” Marshall Goldsmith. This same principle applies to achieving peak performance in an individual.

For Ricki there were two seasons of every year of her life; hunting season and thinking about hunting season.  How about you, what are you living for?
